Sometimes our homes don’t feel as harmonious as we’d like and after all of the changes that we’ve experienced this year, it’s really not a surprise that some of us are looking to restore a little harmony and peace back to our homes. But where should you start?
Well, it can be a lot simpler than you think and so I’ve shared a few tips to help you get started, please take the ones that feel right for you and I hope that they restore harmony back to your home in no time at all...
Creating daily routines, whether it’s your own morning ritual or a collective household routine helps to cultivate healthy habits and inspire a sense of safety and harmony within your home. Of course most of us have daily routines but have they been created consciously or just added to over time? Think through some of yours and see if they’re filled with habits that support your sense of wellbeing and help to cultivate harmony within your home. If you find any areas that you’d love to change then be sure to start small and make one change at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

This could be something that you choose to do alone but it’s great to get the whole family involved. Unplug for 15-30 minutes and find the calmest space in your house to simply be. Enjoy your time without distractions or noise. I find that creating a ritual really helps too. Try to make it the same time every day, maybe light a calming natural candle and leave all devices in another room. Enjoying these quiet moments not only creates harmony in your home but can help to strengthen and rebuild deeper connections with those you love.
Take your favourite quotes or affirmations and turn them into pieces that you can frame or perhaps even write them as notes and pin them to your mirror. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Surrounding yourself with positive words and quotes helps to lighten everyone’s mood and creates a light and more harmonious feeling in your home.
Clutter, whether well organised or not, is never going to help you on your path to creating harmony in your home. It has to go. Walking into a room and being met with piles of paper, messy cupboards or out of control wardrobes takes up precious mental energy and can have a negative effect on how you feel within your home. If there’s quite a lot to tackle, then set aside regular time to work through each area - I always like to start with clothes but you can start with whatever feels easiest for you. Just be sure to donate or recycle everything along the way.

Sometimes the energy in your home just feels out of balance, doesn’t it? You can’t always find a reason for it but you know something doesn’t feel right. It’s possible that the energy in your home has just collected over time and is starting to feel a little stagnant. Or maybe you’ve been through a time of change and the emotional discord has taken its toll. Either way, you’re ready for a change...and a good cleanse. I love to use white sage to regularly cleanse my home and keep the energy feeling positive. If you’ve never energetically cleansed your home before then take a look at our Home Cleansing Ritual Kit - it contains everything you need (including a step by step guide) to help you remove stagnant energy and restore harmony to your home.
Creating time to share meals together cultivates connection and communication. Together you can enjoy your food, share the highlights of your day or even talk through any concerns. It’s said that the benefits that this has on our children include balanced body weight and increased self-esteem. If you don’t eat together at the moment, then it may take some scheduling to find a time when everyone can share 1 or 2 meals a week. Be sure to turn off TV’s and phones and give everyone time to adapt to a new meal time routine - it doesn’t have to be perfect to make a difference.
We all love a home that smells good, don’t we? But there’s quite a debate about the safety of what we use to scent our homes - personally I like to keep everything as natural as possible and avoid artificial fragrances and paraffin candles in my home. And, when you choose to use products infused with natural essential oils you get to enjoy the therapeutic benefits and have a great smelling home at the same time.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed reading these and you feel like you can take action on at least one or two things to help restore harmony back to your home as soon as possible.
